IMZ-Ural Motorcyles, Parts, and Service in Southeast Michigan

Outside the Factory

The factory covers many acres, although some buildings are no longer in use. The administrative building shown here is no longer 100% motorcycle manufacturing - other businesses have moved into some sections of the building since IMZ was restructured.

This is the office section of the building - you can see the IMZ logo on top.

Along one walk approaching the office section, you'll find these signs, showing the different models of bikes made by IMZ.

In front of the office section is a Wolf high above the sidewalk.

There are two very large buildings within the compound that manufacture most of the bikes. There are smaller buildings for storage, shipping, and other functions.

Since our trip was in mid-March, there was still plenty of snow on the ground.

In this outdoor area, you'll find an original Ural M-72, a bike produced during the Great Patriotic War (World War II in the US).

These two pictures show that the Ural motorcycle can be used for multiple functions. They are used both indoors and outdoors within the facility. The blue bike is the First Aid bike, which has a cargo sidecar adapted to carry a stretcher. The red bike has been adapted for use as a light duty truck.
